Day 3, 4 & 5

It's been a crazy few days! I took a day off from work and exercise and spent it on my well-being: doctor's appt, grocery shopping, sewing, and homework. This made me feel so proud of myself because I was able to do something for ME. I even had a chance to polish my nails! I got a check-up with lab-work. I haven't been feeling my best lately and need to make sure everything is alright. My doc felt a swollen lymph node under my armpit. He had me schedule an appointment to get a mammogram. Haven't had one of these in over 10 years. So I made the appointment for today. Technology has advanced so much since the last time I had one. It isn't as painful, but it is still a little invasive. I can't complain since this little exam can save my life. Now it's a matter of waiting. My beautiful boys (16 years ago) All of my week's schoolwork is almost finished. I just need one more assignment and 1.5 chapters to read. My deadline is Sunday, but I want to su...

Day Two

The day started off on a positive note and ended in a slump. First thing this morning, I got on the treadmill and walked/ran for 2 miles while listening to On Managing Yourself by Clayton M. Christensen. I highly recommend this book. For school, I was able to read Article I, wrote a professional bio, and worked on my digital portfolio. Before the day is over, I need to read a few pages from chapter 2. I have so much work to do before Sunday. It is one course every 7.5 weeks. They said, "It is not a marathon, it is a sprint." So far, it's overwhelming with no room to breathe. I spent an hour watching Dirty John. My son and I have been watching it together since it started. He is in AZ, but we still synchronize our time to watch together. We text back and forth when we have a comment, there's a commercial, or we need to pause. Me at the age of six. The last birthday I celebrated with my dad & mom. I was surrounded by children from the local orphanage in Ense...

Day One of My Academic Endeavor (orig. 1/7/19)

My study nook This blog is to hopefully inspire someone out there, at any age, to go back to school. Age is just a number which can easily be accessorized with higher education. Instead of investing in one of those fancy Tesla cars, I'm investing in something that will never go out of style: A Master's Degree in Special Education with Advanced Behavioral Analysis. I'm finally doing it! Today is the first day working on my Master's Program. It is no easy task since I have been in a highly comfortable routine for the past one thousand years. Doing this online takes a lot of self-discipline and drive. Especially after working two jobs. Reading on my couch On day one,  I truly fought the urge to sit on the couch and watch mind-numbing TV, after getting home from work. Instead, I sat in front of the computer in my quiet corner and went online to check my syllabus. There is so much to learn; four chapters and two articles to read, watch 20-minute videos, and si...
